The November poetry slam was a force to be reckoned with this month with 11 poets taking part in the competition. The London Music Club stage heated and blood was spilled with our very own Dana “ID” Matthews. Adding to our beautiful competitors, Javon Mays entertained, dazzled and mystified. Poems of highlight in the night include Mays’ piece about his experiences coordinating with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Encompassing beat-box with a marriage of zealous writing, Mays commanded our attention and imaginations. Other memorable pieces include Jake Martell’s poem rhythm-heavy performance in the 1st round and a newcomer to the London Poetry Slam, Noah. The night ended with Subash taking 3rd, Noah taking 2nd and Cathy Petch coming out victorious!
Come on out for our next Poetry Slam on December 16th, again at the London Music Club.
