July Workshop: Poetry as Knowledge Translation w/ Inali Barger

Event Date: July 21, 2018 -

Event Time: 12-2pm

Event Location: 240 Waterloo St London ON

Join us the Saturday after our slam from 12-2pm for a workshop opportunity to chat with poets, learn some tips and tricks, have your writing critiqued, practice performing, or just sit in and listen! Workshops are held at the GORGEOUS London Roundhouse, and are FREE + ALL welcome! (no experience necessary)

Our July workshop will be facilitated by long-time LPS performer and organizer Inali Barger!

This workshop will focus on editing and writing poetry with the goals of clarity and translating emotions and events across many contexts. We will briefly discuss intersectionality in writing as it relates to accessible language and individual experience, participate in a few writing exercises, and spend some time at the end to edit pre-existing work if time allows. Please bring writing materials (if you have extra, consider bringing some for your neighbour who might not have any).

Inali is the current Underground Indies champ. He has coached individuals and teams of poets to help them breathe into their own truths, locate their own experiences, and edit (self/others/ world through words). He addresses intersectionality through the context of addiction, poverty, homelessness, mental illness, physical illness, research for advocacy on behalf of himself and others, and his nearly 11 years of dedication to the London Poetry Slam and Canadian spoken word community.
