New Sign Up!
May 23, 2014
In the past we have had performers sign up on their way in the door, with a limit of 15 sign up spots for slammers & 3 for open mic. Over the last year we have gotten busier, both in our audience and poet numbers, and we have realized a few issues with this system: it gets very chaotic at the door and people arriving later frequently find the sign up sheet already full.
So we’re introducing a new sign up system!
- As of May 2014, there will be a call for sign up at 7:30 (sharp!)
- Everyone wishing to perform (open mic or slam) will be asked to come to the stage & sign up
- Neither the open mic or the slam will have a limit to how many people can sign up, though the limits of performers will stay intact (3 open mic’ers, 12 slammers)
- Any questions regarding time limits, rules, etc. will be answered and the draw will occur once everyone has signed up. The order drawn will be the show order (the host will no longer draw the order on stage once the show starts)
- Performers not chosen will have their name in the hat twice the following month
- Performers not chosen again a second month will be guaranteed to perform the third month (to a max of 6)
Also note that our new scoring/ranking system requires poets to slam at least 3 times to qualify for Finals.
